(1) The Victoria College (originally
called Central School), formed in the year 1862,
was, until the year 1865, under the control of the
defunct Board of Education. During this time, the late Headmaster, Dr. Stewart, conducted the annual examinations of the School under the supervision of members of the Board, and the Board reported upon the School in its Annual Reports on Education in Hongkong.
(2) In the year 1865 an Education Department was substituted in place of the Board and the late Headmaster, Dr. Stewart, was appointed Head of
